Soybeans are grown throughout the Mississippi Delta. In 2016, nearly 97 million bushels were grown on 3,274 farms. The value of production in 2016 was $1,011 with Bolivar county as the top producing county. Soybean research is primarily funded by the Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board. Soybean research is conducted by scientists in the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES).
