Delta Research and Extension Center’s goal is to support a healthy and profitable agricultural sector that is beneficial to the citizens of the Mississippi Delta by researching and applying science and technology and sharing those practical solutions with the local farming community. Our research programs, conducted through the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, are focused on agricultural production challenges specific to the Delta, and focused on the primary commodities of, but not limited to, corn, cotton, rice, soybean, and catfish. These programs are supported by research and innovation development in the sciences of agronomy and soil fertility, ag economics, weed science, irrigation and water quality, aquaculture, plant pathology, entomology, the study of weather and its effects, genetics, and mechanization improvements. These methods are coordinated with other research institutions and industries to ensure that safe, best, and profitable practices are produced and disseminated to the public through seminars, fields days, media outlets, published articles and journals, and through the Mississippi State University Extension Service.
