Soybean

The goal of DREC soybean researchers is to identify management practices that optimize yield and maximize profitability for Mississippi Delta soybean producers.  DREC researchers conduct research and Extension activities in the area of agronomy, weed science, plant pathology, entomology, soil science, and plant physiology. DREC soybean scientists communicate these research findings with soybean producers, crop consultant, industry representatives, and government officials through multiple avenues, including, field days, websites, social media, and direct consultation.  

Rice and Rice Breeding

The goal of the DREC rice program is to develop long-grain rice varieties with high yield, excellent physical, milling, cooking, and eating qualities as well as resistance to major diseases and insect pests, using both classical and modern approaches. Other traits of interest include tolerance to specific herbicides and non-biological stresses such as heat and salinity.
